The journey starts with a complimentary Discovery Call. This is a no-obligation phone call that provides you the opportunity to get to know me and learn about my approach to care.
Next, schedule an initial Foundational Assessment (90 minutes). This visit uses the functional medicine model to dive deep into your history. In this initial visit we discuss your unique symptoms, lifestyle, and other factors that may be impacting your health. Your advanced biomarker labs are reviewed. We then create an 8-part personalized plan for health optimization.

Common Questions
Do you accept insurance?
Ami Swanson NP, LLC does not accept insurance. By partnering with you, not your insurance company, I am able to provide hassle-free and transparent services. This includes telling you up-front exactly what the cost of all services will be, allowing you to invest in your long-term health.

What forms of payment do you accept?
All major credit cards, including HSA and FSA accounts.

Why the membership model?
The principles of functional medicine hinge on lifestyle change. The process of fixing root cause problems takes time and support. I'm best able to provide this if we work together over time. Typically, it takes at least 6 months to heal and resolve ongoing symptoms.

Can you be my primary care provider?
No. Ami uses the functional medicine model, and isn’t set up to do primary care.

Are lab testing costs covered in my visit fee?
No. While lab testing is helpful, it isn’t necessary for everyone. Lab fees are an additional cost and I will discuss costs of any labs prior to ordering them.

I recently had labs done at my primary provider’s office, do I need to re-do them?
Short answer, it depends! If you’ve had recent labs, you can upload them in your patient portal for me to review prior to our visit. We can then discuss if repeating them would be necessary. Many conventional medical lab panels are not as comprehensive as those I will recommend, and repeating labs is often helpful to see how you've progressed.

How will we connect?
All first visits take place at the clinic in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Telehealth visits are an option for follow up appointments.
